Reporting a story (helps us improve)

Ads & kids
- We use Google AdMob. For child audiences we stick to non-personalised ads and families-approved SDKs.
- You can reset/limit the device Advertising ID in Android/iOS settings.
Your privacy at a glance
- We do not upload your saved stories.
- We use a random device ID (hashed on our server) to manage daily limits.
- We send your story choices to our server and AI provider only to generate the story; we don’t keep the story text after the response.

1) What the App does
Sleep Tight (the “App”, the “Service”) lets adults (parents/guardians) create personalised bedtime stories. You enter prompts (e.g., name, age, theme, tone). Our server forwards inputs to an AI model and returns a story to your device. Saved stories are stored locally on your device (we don’t host your library).
2) Who may use the App
The App is intended for adults creating stories for children. Children should not use the App directly. You are responsible for supervision and for what you input and share.
3) AI output, responsibility & reporting
AI may produce inaccurate, incomplete, or inappropriate text. We work to keep output child-safe, but you must proof-read every story before using it with a child.
You accept full responsibility for how you use generated content.
Views & content disclaimer: Generated stories do not reflect the views of D Shone. We do not endorse or control the exact output.
Report issues: Use any in-app reporting or email reports@dshone.co.uk. We may review reported prompts/outputs to improve safety filters and restrict abusive use.

4) Acceptable use
You agree not to: (a) attack, probe, or overload the Service; (b) bypass quotas/rate limits or automate scraping; (c) submit unlawful/infringing/harmful content; (d) try to extract model/system prompts; (e) misuse ads; (f) violate any law or store policy. We may throttle, suspend, or terminate access to protect users and the Service.
5) Third-party services
AI provider: We use a third-party AI API to generate stories. You are responsible for evaluating output for your use case. OpenAI
Ads: We use Google AdMob. Ad delivery depends on region, device settings, consent, age treatment, and Play policies. Google Help
Edge hosting/security: We use a provider (e.g., Cloudflare) for delivery, rate-limit and anti-abuse.
Your use is also subject to those providers’ terms/policies.
6) Families / child-directed rules
If the App is opted into Designed for Families or otherwise reaches children:

7) Availability & changes
We aim for reliability but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service. Features may change or be discontinued at any time. We may update these Terms; continued use indicates acceptance (the date above will change).
8) Ownership & licences
Your inputs/outputs: As between you and us, you own your inputs and outputs. You grant us a limited licence to process them to provide the Service and prevent abuse. OpenAI
App IP: The App (code, design, branding) is owned by D Shone or our licensors.
Feedback: If you send suggestions, you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free licence to use them to improve the Service.
9) Region compliance & export rules
You are responsible for using the App lawfully in your region, including content, privacy, and sanctions/export controls. Do not use the App where prohibited.
10) Disclaimers
The Service and outputs are provided “as is” and “as available.” To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties (merchantability, fitness, non-infringement, accuracy). Generated content requires adult review before use with a child.
11) Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, D Shone and its suppliers are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses. Our total liability for any claim related to the Service is limited to £50 (or the minimum amount required by law).
12) Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold D Shone harmless from claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of the Service, breach of these Terms, or violation of law/third-party rights.
13) Takedown & complaints
Send detailed reports to reports@dshone.co.uk (content at issue, location, reason, your contact). We will review and take reasonable steps (e.g., update filters, restrict abusive use, cooperate with lawful requests).
14) Termination
We may suspend or terminate access with or without notice for violations or to protect the Service. You may stop using the App at any time; uninstalling leaves locally saved stories on your device until you delete them.
15) Notices & service
We accept service of legal notices by email at reports@dshone.co.uk. If your jurisdiction requires a postal address for service, email us to request the appropriate address; we do not publish a residential address for safety.
16) Governing law & venue
These Terms are governed by the laws of England & Wales. Courts in England have exclusive jurisdiction, except where consumer law gives you mandatory rights elsewhere.

1) What we process & why
a) To run the Service (contract; legitimate interests: security/abuse prevention)
Random Device ID (generated on device). A salted hash is stored server-side to apply daily story limits and ad-credit redemptions.
IP address & request metadata (via our edge host) to apply rate-limits and protect against abuse.
Story Inputs (e.g., name/age/theme/tone) are sent to our server and forwarded to the AI provider solely to generate the story; we do not store story text server-side after responding.
Saved stories are stored on your device only.
b) Ads (consent where required; otherwise legitimate interests)
We use Google AdMob. AdMob may access the device Advertising ID and other signals to serve/measure ads. In EEA/UK/CH we follow Google’s EU User Consent Policy and use a certified CMP (UMP) where required; if consent is withheld, we serve non-personalised ads. Google+3Google Help+3Google Help+3
c) Diagnostics & security (legitimate interests)
Minimal, aggregate error logs and abuse counters (daily or short-window) to keep the App reliable and secure. We do not build behavioural profiles of children.
2) Sharing with service providers
Edge/hosting & security (e.g., Cloudflare) — processes IP/headers for delivery and anti-abuse.
AI provider (OpenAI) — receives inputs to produce outputs; as between you and the model provider, you own input and output. OpenAI

3) Retention
Quota/IP counters: reset daily or expire within short windows.
Server logs: short-term for security/debugging.
Stories: remain on your device until you delete them.
We do not persist prompts or stories server-side beyond request handling.
4) Your rights
Subject to law, you may request access, correction, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection. Contact email@dshone.co.uk. You may complain to the ICO (UK) or your local data authority.
5) Children’s privacy / Designed for Families
The App is used by adults to create stories for children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child provided data to us, email reports@dshone.co.uk and we will delete it.
When the App is offered to children or opted into Designed for Families:
